March Newsletter 2018

This month at Purpose...

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

We dove into March with all hands on deck as projects kicked into high gear! We collaborated with tech teams, visual designers, and everyone in between. Bonus: one of our partners sent their app into the wild!

WorkTrip is going live!

Last summer we worked with Durham based

on their app to make traveling for business and conferences easier. WorkTrip's mission is to make work travel hassle free for both those planning and attending through the integration of agendas, itineraries, documents, and all the other loose ends! It was a joy to work with the whole WorkTrip team as this app came to life.

This month we dug into several design buzzwords: user, intention, call to action, and design systems. This article was one of our favorites, really diving into the proverbial user we speak of so often:  Who is the User? via The Patternly by Patrick Metzger

"In design of any kind, the “user” is often assumed to be the normative human body. I recently read a discussion in StackExchange’s User Experience section where someone asked: What is the most common user interface in the world?  The question seems innocuous at first, until you realize that the questioner hasn’t specified any kind of context."

Our Writing

Metrics: What They Do

I stole someone else's resolution and it changed my life.

For the first time I can recall, I actually made a New Year’s resolution this year. Don’t give me too much credit — I stole it. At an NYE party, a friend asked what people’s resolutions were for the upcoming year. “If you only make resolutions once per year, you’ve got to cut down your cycle time,” I scoffed.
